Arch construction could start as soon as Nov. 5, federal officials say.
This follows a proposed plan by President Donald Trump to build a triumphal arch in Memorial Circle. The construction timeline was discussed during a public hearing on October 22, 2026.
County Board member J.D. Spain Sr. spoke against the proposed arch, citing concerns about its impact on the area's history and culture.
Renderings of the arch, provided by the Commission of Fine Arts, depict a grand structure near Memorial Bridge.
Flags placed by workers are visible in Memorial Circle, where the proposed construction is set to take place.
