Boca Raton Breaks Ground on $2M Railroad Crossing Project
Boca Raton has marked the start of construction on a new railroad crossing expected to improve east-west access in the city’s northeast. The Jeffery Street crossing will connect NW 2nd Avenue with Federal Highway, replacing the existing crossing at NW 28th Street. The project aims to reconnect neighborhoods, enhance emergency response, and improve traffic circulation, providing access to North Park, which is under construction.
Work includes extending and widening the roadway, building the crossing, and upgrading nearby intersections, signals, sidewalks, drainage, and lighting.
A $2 million federal award will fund the project, coordinated with Florida East Coast Railway and the Florida Department of Transportation. Construction is slated to begin in November, with completion anticipated in 2027.
