Construction Begins on 60 Front Street Homes Lost in the Lahaina Wildfire

Maui Now reports that construction has started on a 60-home community in Lahaina, lost in the August 2023 wildfire. The project, located at 1034 Front Street, involves a collaborative effort between homeowners, Maui County officials, and Arita Poulson General Contracting, who expects construction to begin October 19 and take approximately 18 months to complete.

"Our homeowners have been through a lot over the past three years, and today they can finally see their homes starting to come back," shared Thomas Ravey, president of the Association of Apartment Owners of Lahaina Residential and a longtime homeowner in the community.

The groundbreaking ceremony included Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen, Council Member Yuki Lei Sugimura, and other project partners. Arita Poulson General Contracting, part of the Goodfellow Brothers family of companies, will oversee all aspects of rebuilding and deliver the 60 homes. Their previous work on Maui includes rehabilitating Lāhainā's banyan tree during the 2023 emergency response and supporting debris removal efforts.

"Housing is the foundation of our recovery," emphasized Mayor Bissen, highlighting the significance of this project in bringing families back to West Maui.
