Construction Begins on 60 Front Street Homes Lost in the Lahaina Wildfire
Maui Now reports that construction is set to start on 60 homes located at 1034 Front Street in Lahaina, which were destroyed in the August 2023 wildfire. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by homeowners, Mayor Richard Bissen, Council Member Yuki Lei Sugimura, and project partners.
Arita Poulson General Contracting, the project's general contractor, aims to complete the construction within approximately 18 months, starting on October 19th.
"Our homeowners have been through a lot over the past three years, and today they can finally see their homes starting to come back," expressed Thomas Ravey, president of the Association of Apartment Owners of Lahaina Residential.
The project will be handled by local workers, a significant step towards the community's recovery, as stated by Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen.
