Construction underway at Loudoun’s second Barnes & Noble store

Loudoun County is getting its second Barnes & Noble bookstore as the retail chain expands nationwide. Work has officially commenced on the new 23,000 sq. ft. store at the Dulles Landing retail center in southern Loudoun.
Back in June, The Burn broke the news that Barnes & Noble was planning this new location at the center, which is already home to Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods. The bookseller has taken over the space previously occupied by BuyBuy Baby.
Currently, construction is in the preliminary stages, with metal framing for walls being installed. Crews still have much to do, including putting up drywall, ceilings, and flooring, installing furniture and fixtures, and hiring and training staff to stock the shelves. The store is aiming for a December opening to coincide with the holiday shopping season.
Loudoun already boasts a Barnes & Noble at One Loudoun in Ashburn, and the company's CEO has announced plans to open 60 new stores nationwide this year.
