A construction worker was seriously injured Wednesday morning when he was hit by a barrel after a truck crashed into it.

This incident occurred around 8:15 AM on I-95 in Pittsfield.

According to police, a silver pickup truck hauling a black dump trailer hit a concrete barrier and a barrel while driving through a single-lane construction zone.

The orange construction barrel was then propelled into an employee of Northeast Construction, causing serious injuries, police stated.

Despite the severity of the incident, authorities assure that the 56-year-old worker’s injuries are not life-threatening, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

State Police are currently trying to identify the driver of the pickup truck.
