Drivers traveling on Alcoa Highway (U.S. 129/state Route 115) in Knox County should plan for construction-related delays starting next week, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
From Nov. 1 through Nov. 5, nighttime lane closures will take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Cherokee Trail between Old Cherokee Trail and Medical Center Way, as well as the Alcoa Highway interchange, while crews pave and prepare for upcoming traffic shifts. Daytime construction will also cause delays between Woodson Drive and Cherokee Trail.
Additionally, from Nov. 2 through Nov. 6, rolling roadblocks lasting about 20 minutes each will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Flagging operations will run during the same daytime hours along Cherokee Trail toward Medical Center Way and on the northbound Alcoa Highway ramp at Cherokee Trail.
TDOT says this schedule depends on favorable weather. Drivers are urged to use caution, watch for road crews, and dial 511 for statewide travel updates.
