Nighttime construction will shut down some streets and change parking in Downtown Roanoke starting Sunday, October 11, according to the City of Roanoke. The work is part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and modernize public infrastructure.
Milling and paving will take place between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the construction is expected to last through mid-November 2026, according to officials. Downtown residents can expect construction noise as work is conducted, while local traffic access to residences and businesses will continue throughout the paving project.
Temporary parking restriction notices will be posted in advance, and cars will be towed from construction zones. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use alternate routes when possible. Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians should use caution when traveling through the work zone and remain alert for crews and equipment.
