DPR Construction Names Scott Sass Raleigh-Durham Business Unit Leader
DPR Construction has named Scott Sass as its Raleigh-Durham business unit leader, appointing a 27-year company veteran to oversee operations in a region where life sciences and healthcare are among its strongest markets.
Sass brings experience managing complex projects and business operations, particularly in life sciences and other technical industries. His background supports DPR’s work on research, development, and manufacturing facilities across the Triangle.
DPR established its Raleigh-Durham operations in 2007. Its regional portfolio includes projects for Genentech, Eli Lilly, United Therapeutics, Duke Health, and Duke University, spanning life sciences, healthcare, higher education, and advanced technology.
"DPR’s Raleigh-Durham team has built a strong reputation for bringing together customers, design, and trade partners early in the process to align goals, manage risk, and drive better project outcomes," Sass said.
The company’s local capabilities include a research and development and prefabrication assembly facility in Raleigh.
Jay Stoda, DPR’s Southeast region co-leader, said the facility allows teams and partners to test ideas and coordinate construction approaches with greater control over safety, quality, and scheduling.
Stoda added that Sass would build on those capabilities to help customers plan and execute projects.
Founded in 1990, DPR is a privately held, employee-owned general contractor and construction manager serving advanced technology, life sciences, healthcare, higher education, and commercial customers. Its work ranges from large-scale new construction to tenant improvements and special projects.
DPR employs more than 13,500 professionals across its family of companies worldwide. The company says it uses prefabrication on more than 90% of new work and deploys its craft workforce on nearly all projects.
