Electric Scooter Crash Claims Life of 40-Year-Old Man in Bend Construction Area
A 40-year-old Bend resident, Tommy Robert Banks, lost his life on October 30, 2026, following an electric scooter crash in a closed construction zone near NE Division Street and Third Street. According to Bend Police, a passerby alerted them at 10:47 p.m. after spotting Banks lying in the road.
Responding officers found Banks within the construction area, which was closed for North Unit Irrigation District work. The incident resulted in Banks' death at the scene.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with electric scooters, especially in areas where construction and traffic regulations are in place.
