Hogan Lovells Cadwalader Guides on Construction Loan for Luxury Orlando Hotel
Global law firm Hogan Lovells Cadwalader has provided legal advice to Civitas Capital Group on a $386 million construction loan for a new InterContinental hotel in Orlando. The hotel will be located minutes away from popular attractions like Universal Epic Universe, Walt Disney World, and Universal Orlando.
The Hogan Lovells Cadwalader advisory team, led by real estate partner Lea Ann Fowler and senior associate Blake Soper, included restructuring and special situations counsel Chris Bryant, real estate partners Ira Teicher and Tim DeKeyser, and real estate associates Ali Schrier and Nusheena Parvizi.
Fowler stated, "We were pleased to advise Civitas on this significant financing... The transaction reflects Civitas’ ability to provide creative capital solutions for large-scale hospitality developments, and we’re proud to support them in bringing this project forward."
Civitas, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is an EB-5 regional center operator and real estate capital partner. They have invested in over 50 real estate projects since their founding in 2009.
The loan will fund the construction of a luxury hotel with 700 rooms, food and beverage outlets, meeting spaces, a spa, pool, fitness center, and a six-level garage, located at 8001 International Drive.
Construction is set to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with completion expected in the third quarter of 2029. FINFROCK, based in Florida, has been engaged as the general contractor.
Civitas Managing Director and Head of Investments Austin Khan commented, "Civitas’ credit platform is a national leader in large-scale construction financing... We are excited to be a part of bringing this hotel to market."
The transaction was advised by JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group.
