Hudson Place to Reopen Monday as Construction Shifts to Hudson Street

Hoboken, NJ — Hudson Place is scheduled to reopen to vehicular and pedestrian traffic by 5 p.m. on Monday, October 19, as construction moves to the next phase along Hudson Street, city officials announced.

The reopening follows the completion of water main replacement and street repaving work on Hudson Place. The improvements are intended to strengthen the city’s drinking water infrastructure and improve safety for multiple modes of transportation near the Hoboken Terminal.

Bike lanes on Hudson Place will remain temporarily closed after the reopening. Taxi pickup and drop-off will continue on Newark Street, while Hop pickup and drop-off will remain on River Street.

Beginning Monday, Hudson Street will close to all vehicular traffic between Observer Highway and Hudson Place for the next phase of construction. Access to Observer Highway between Washington Street and Hudson Street will be restricted to NJ Transit buses and police personnel. Other drivers traveling east on Observer Highway will be directed onto Washington Street.

Drivers who do not need to access the Hoboken Terminal area are encouraged to avoid Hudson Street south of Fourth Street. Motorists traveling through the area should allow extra time for detours and temporary traffic disruptions.

Pedestrian access along Hudson Street will be maintained during construction, although temporary detours may be implemented as needed. Police officers will be on site during construction hours to assist with detours and help ensure pedestrian safety.
