Medina paving work to affect Court Street, Broadway and 3 other streets

Medina Mayor Jim Shields said motorists should be prepared for a lot of construction on and around Court Street during the final half of October.

MEDINA, Ohio -- While he acknowledges that traffic issues can be difficult and frustrating, Mayor Jim Shields asks the motoring public to be patient and to make preparations for delays on and near Court Street during the final two weeks of October.

“The concrete work on Court Street from Homestead down to Lafayette is complete, but milling and paving will start on Court Street Oct. 19 and is expected to last at least two weeks,” Shields said.

“That is all dependent on weather and having enough personnel.”

Shields said the paving and milling work will start near Homestead Street and work its way south to Lafayette Road. “As crews approach the square, they will be doing the work at night,” Shields said. “But from the square down to Homestead and Washington Street down to Lafayette, that will happen during the day.”

To avoid delays, Shields said motorists should plan on a lot of construction taking place on North Court Street and also on Broadway, Elmwood, Huntington, and Jefferson.

“This schedule is highly weather dependent, but if there are changes, we will do our best to notify everybody as soon as we find out,” City Engineer Patrick Patton said.
