Paws Place Breaks Ground on New Storm-Resilient Sanctuary Shelter

Construction has officially begun on a new, storm-resilient animal shelter in Brunswick County. Paws Place has initiated their Sanctuary Shelter project, following the completion of Phase 1. This two-story facility is designed to withstand the extreme weather and rising waters characteristic of southeastern North Carolina.

Crews are currently focusing on several key features:

  • Hardiplank installation
  • Completing electrical work
  • Finishing interior walls and flooring
  • Installing a garage door
  • Placing a propane tank and generator to ensure power during outages
  • Installing an HVAC mini-split system
  • Fitting ceiling fans, lighting, and painting
  • Landscaping and final Brunswick County approvals

The rescue has raised $303,750 of its $315,000 goal. Donate here to support the cause.

As the project progresses, the rescue will share regular updates and an official public open house is planned once all approvals are secured and the certificate of occupancy is received.
