Queen’s-West expansion reaches major construction milestone

The Queen’s Medical Center – West Oahu has achieved a significant construction milestone with the placement of the final structural beam on its new three-story facility. This expansion, spanning 80,000 square feet, will nearly double the size of the emergency department, adding 32 care spaces to reach a total of 55.

The project also includes the addition of 48 private inpatient rooms across two floors, bringing the hospital’s total patient rooms to 152.

Located in Ewa, Queen’s-West currently operates as the second-busiest emergency department in the state, behind The Queen’s Medical Center – Punchbowl. With the community’s growth, the demand for accessible emergency care has increased by an average of 5% annually over the past five years.

The expanded facility will feature advanced imaging capabilities and specialized treatment areas designed to enhance patient care. Construction is expected to be completed by late 2028.
