SPAC (Saratoga Performing Arts Center) is embarking on a $2 million construction project to enhance safety and utility at its amphitheater, scheduled for completion in spring 2027. This initiative includes upgrades to the venue's heating and electrical systems.
Situated in the scenic 2,500-acre Saratoga Spa State Park, SPAC is the region's premier outdoor entertainment venue, hosting diverse events since its 1966 opening. Notable performances come from artistic partners like the New York City Ballet, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. SPAC also hosts the Saratoga Jazz Festival annually, attracting 500,000 guests annually with its 25,000-seat capacity.
The project involves replacing gas-fired water heaters with electric ones, enhancing backstage electrical systems, and installing a new elevator. These upgrades are funded through New York's Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
In addition, renovation work is underway at SPAC's Spa Little Theater, a 500-seat venue. This $12 million project includes reconfiguring seating and building a new bar area while preserving historical elements like wood floors and fireplaces. Spa Little Theater is set to reopen in December.
