Slow down. Pay close attention to signs and flaggers. Minimize distractions.
These are some keys to staying safe in a construction zone.
Drivers in Fond du Lac can expect road closures and construction in seven project areas during the week of Oct. 12.
All construction work is weather dependent, and on-street parking is prohibited in work zones during working hours.
Affected streets include:
- Western Avenue
- Elm Street
- Morris Street
- Griffith Street
- Emma Street
- Drury Place
- Pioneer Road.
While streets are closed to through traffic, residents and business customers can still access properties.
FOND DU LAC – Drivers can expect closures and construction work in seven Fond du Lac project areas during the week of Oct. 12-16.
Work is weather dependent. Streets listed below are closed to through traffic, but residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “Road Closed to Thru Traffic” signs. Drivers may not pass “Road Closed” signs or move barricades. On-street parking is prohibited in construction zones during working hours.

Western Avenue and Macy Street
Western Avenue is closed between Macy and Oak streets.
Crews plan to finish electrical conduit installation and begin fine grading. The two center lanes could be poured later in the week, weather permitting.
The larger project covers Western Avenue from Military Road to Main Street and Macy Street from Court Street to Western Avenue. Work is scheduled through October.

Elm Street
Elm Street is closed from South Street to Western Avenue.
Crews will continue cutting the road to subgrade and placing base aggregate. The water main, roadway, and restoration project is scheduled through October.
Morris Street and Griffith Street
Morris Street is closed from West Ninth Street to West 12th Street.
Griffith Street is closed from Morris Street to the east dead end.
Crews plan to finish fine grading both roads. Asphalt work is expected to begin midweek.
Emma Street
Emma Street is closed from South Seymour Street to the east dead end.
Crews plan to pour pavement, curb, and gutter on the south side of the street.
Drury Place
Drury Place is closed from Hillcrest Lane to Seymour Street.
Crews expect to begin cutting the road to subgrade and placing base aggregate later in the week.
Pioneer Road
Pioneer Road is closed between County V and Fond du Lac Avenue.
Fond du Lac County crews will continue building the concrete sidewalk. The city-county reconstruction project is scheduled through October.
